Hello, I am flood1. I have been an avid motorsports fan since I was a child. Born and raised in NASCAR country, my interest in motor sports began at the red dirt tracks of the deep south. By the time I was 12, my interests had shifted to USAC (United States Auto Club) and their premier race, the Indy 500. The 500 was not televised in the 1960's, but I sat around the radio with my entire family and heard the race reported live by four talented broadcasters who were located high in the grandstands at each of the turns, as well as other broadcasters located in the pits and paddock.
It was the 1965 Indy 500 that made me aware of Formula 1. The victor in the 1965 race was Jim Clark driving Colin Chapman's Lotus 38. The race brought an awareness of Formula 1 to American race fans, like me, and created an interest in racing across the pond that continues to this day.
My older brother, Richard, successfully owned and drove a dragster that he built himself, and that car and team fostered my interest in motorsports technology. Technology continues to be one of my primary interests.
I have attended Champ Car, IRL, ALMS, NASCAR, NHRA, and Formula 1 races scattered across 6 countries. If it has an engine and a steering wheel, I will watch it race. I am also an experienced writer and forum host and I love daily contact with motorsports fans, contact only available via motorsports blogs like usf1formula1.com

Hello everone. I am Sportsman. I have been an avid F1 racing fan for over 55 years. Yes I am old. My first ever live F1 GP was the 1955 Britsh GP at Aintree. I watched such iconic names as Moss and Fangio live, in the incredible Mercedes Benz W196. That aroused a passion in me for motor racing that has never died.
I have during the course of my life been an active competitor in several different forms of motorsport. Solo motorcycles, sidecar outfits, which are still my abiding favourite. I have raced saloon cars, starting with a Lotus Ford Cortina, and various different makes and in recent years. Until ill health forced my retirement, I competed in the VWGolf series. I must add that I never acheived a standard better than good club level racing. I am English, but for the past 15 years I have made my home in Latvia in the Baltic states.
I not a fan of any particular team or driver, but my all time hero is the legendary Jim Clark. (RIP).
I have been to many F1 races live, so many I can't really remember them all, but Monaco is the one place that sticks in my mind. On race weekends, the whole place reeks of history.
Today, and for the past many years, my main interest is the technology involved in F1. I am fascinated by these incredible machines, and almost all of my reading, is related to F1 technology.
I hope that in the future, we will all get to know each other better and look forward to hearing your comments on the blog.
On a personal note, I do work for an American owned company, and I well aware of just how single minded and determined they can be if they set themselves a target.

Hi, I am Paul Murtagh. I have been an F1 fan since 1991 when Ayrton Senna claimed his final world title with McLaren, but I would say that I didn't become an avid F1 fan until 1996, when Damon Hill won the world championship with Williams. Since then, I have regularly watched almost every qualifying session and race, totalling over 200 grand prix.
My online motorsport career began back in 2005 as a member of the BBC 606 opinion boards, before moving on to several different forums alongside my two collegues here flood1 and Sportsman. I have also written articles, previews and reviews for these forums, and hope you enjoy reading the blogs that I write here on usf1formula1.com
I have a great interest in the history of the sport. I have many books and articles on the greats of the past including Fangio, Clark, Stewart, Prost, Senna and Schumacher. Reading about these guys and watching footage of them in action makes my interest in the sport even stronger, and I look forward to watching the new generation of drivers such as Hamilton, Alonso, Massa, Vettel and Button try to join that illustrious group of legends
I also have a very high interest in the statisical side of the sport, and have been collecting a large range of stats and data since 2007. Many people would tell you that if you are looking any stat on the spot, I'm your man!
Paul
This team is, of course, a dream come true for F1 fans in the States, best of luck to everyone working to get onto the grid in 2010.
We are all holding our collective breath to see if you can bridge the present economic malaise.
And, if anyone thinks the US is devoid of Grand Prix fans....wait till we have a team representing the folks on this side of the pond...we will make ourselves heard.

Hello,
Found your blog via a link on a site called Sidepodcast.
I run an F1 stats blog called 'Making Up The Numbers', which aims to show F1 from a statistical perspective in a way that anyone could understand. The reason I am linking to it is that Paul said in his post that he finds stats interesting...
I really enjoy your blog and have added it to my RSS reader - keep up the good work guys ;)

Yeah, I feel that way too. That's why I started a blog. Just say what I have to say, forget about post counts and the BS with posters. It is just a hobby, and I just write when I have something to say. If you ever have a blog you want to post on here, let me know.

Y'all know I am an opinionated SOB, the best way to loose your faithful following on here is to have me posting blogs on your site!
But for all the people who say my opinions are b/s - i am not often wrong! I still recall the crap I got for suggesting that Piquets crash was deliberate...
You're doing a good job, keep up the good work!
